Celebrate National 811 Day

Dig safely by calling 811 before your project

Millions of miles of underground utilities run beneath our feet every day. It's no wonder why a line is damaged every nine minutes due to unsafe digging. That's why One-Call of Wyoming, Inc. is here to raise the awareness you need.

National 811 Day is celebrated every year on August 11 to help you learn about the importance of safe digging. Whether you're a DIY enthusiast or a professional contractor, it is important to call 811 before excavation in Wyoming. With proper knowledge about where these utilities are located, you can avoid deadly accidents and protect infrastructure and the environment.

Call 811 to let us know about your upcoming project. Within three business days, someone from the utility company will be out to mark your utility lines so you can follow safe digging practices.

What do the different colors mean?

You should follow safe digging practices every time you dig, not just on National 811 Day. Once your utilities are marked, it's vital to be cautious of the color-coded areas. Each color represents a different utility, including:

  • Red - electrical lines
  • Yellow - gas, oil and steam lines
  • Orange - communication, telephone and cable lines
  • Blue - water lines
  • Green - sewer or drain lines

Whether you're planting a tree or planning a construction project, make 811 your first call. Calling is free and can help you prevent service disruptions, accidents, hefty fines and costly repairs. You can also submit a ticket request through our online portal.
